Every once in a while during Gilas Pilipinas training camps, the players, coaches, and staff would engage in a half-court shootout for a cash reward.
Their recent three-day training camp in Tagaytay was no exception.
After their evening practice session on Wednesday, the members of the national pool gathered at the center of the court and competed against one other in the amusing competition. They each got one attempt at the shot, taking turns heaving the ball from the halfcourt line. But the lone player who got the ball to drop was Ed Daquioag, a rookie of the Meralco Bolts.
After Daquioag made the hail-mary shot, his fellow Gilas members, led by Calvin Abueva, ganged up on him in celebration.
