Do you have what it takes? The University of the Philippines Mathematics Club reboots the Annual Nationwide Search for the Math Wizard for its 52nd iteration this March 28, 2026, at UP Diliman.
This year, the search for the brightest minds nationwide continues. Mathematicians from various colleges and universities across the Philippines will manipulate equations, bend numbers, and engage in a battle of mathematical abilities to prove that they are the one true Math Wizard.
Endorsed by the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics, UP Diliman College of Science, UP Diliman College of Engineering, Mathematical Society of the Philippines, and DOST – Science and Technology Information Institute, the 52nd Annual Nationwide Search for the Math Wizard remains the most prestigious collegiate-level mathematics competition in the country.
The contest is split into two phases: a written Elimination Round, where only the top 30 students will advance, and a Finals Round, a live raise-boards contest culminating in a buzzer round among the top 6 contestants. The Finals Round is further divided into three stages: the Apprentice Round, the Sorcerer Round, and the Wizard Round, each featuring questions of varying difficulty.
The Elimination Round will be held at the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics, UP Diliman Campus, Quezon City, from 7:00 AM to 12:00 NN, while the Finals Round will take place at the CHED Auditorium, UP Diliman Campus, Quezon City, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Apart from earning the coveted titles of Math Wizard (First Place), Math Sorcerer (Second Place), and Math Apprentice (Third Place), the top challengers will also receive the following cash prizes:
First Place: Php 20,000.00
Second Place: Php 10,000.00
Third Place: Php 5,000.00
Any student currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in any university or college in the Philippines, and who has not yet earned a degree, is qualified to participate in the contest. Participants must be enrolled during the current term or semester. Contestants may register with or without a coach. No teams may be formed at any point in the competition.
