This “Thank U, Next” parody might actually be better than the original

Ariana Grande’s hit “Thank U, Next” has been out for about a month now. Despite that amount of time, it continues to dominate radio airwaves and conversations alike. This might have something to do with it being the most healthy break-up song we’ve heard yet.

Her record-breaking music video might have something to do with it, as well. Although I could write essays on the video’s iconicity or its feminist undertones I’ll leave it at the simple fact that it’s a fun watch.

Its nostalgia and wit make it fulfilling to view. This is something James Corden’s parody “Thank U, Jeff” capitalizes on and makes use of in its own scenes. We see references to some of his best and most iconic work, like Jurassic Park and The Fly. We also get Corden accurately calling him a “silver fox”.

The video is packaged as James Corden’s personal ‘thank you’ to Jeff Goldblum for, well, being Jeff Goldblum.

If you’re in any doubt about how great the video is, even Ariana Grande has given her stamp of approval:

As a Jeff Goldblum fan ever since Jurassic Park, this music video truly resonated with me. What was your favorite part?
