Day Two
6AM to 9AM – Beach Sunrise and Drive to Balete Tree
Before going on a day tour, be sure to bring the essentials: water, sunblock, snacks, and good vibes.
Early in the morning, after our sunrise watch at Sabang Beach (got so carried away in the moment that I forgot to take a picture), we headed up to the famous millennium tree in Baler, the Balete tree. It is said to be 500+ years old and has tanked a lot of natural disasters.
You can go inside the tree and see its amazing evolution and growth, and by the way, yes, that’s a CCTV inside the Balete tree.
9AM to 12Noon – Ditumabo Mother Falls
After the Balete tree, we headed straight up to Ditumabo Falls or as they call it, the Mother Falls.
From the drop-off point, it’s a 1.5km walk to the falls. You’ll notice the air getting colder and colder as you approach the falls.
The long, hot, and fun-loaded trekking along the mountainside was worth it when we finally arrived at our destination. Once we saw the magical water running down, we rushed into it to cool down. The ice cold water perfectly compensates for the long, hot and sweaty walk to the falls.
12Noon to 3PM – Lunch Time at The Rolling Store and Roaming around the Town of Baler
After experiencing the majestic Mother Falls and the tiring walk on the way back, we decided to check out the Rolling Store that the locals were ranting about. The rolling store consists of different “karendiryas” or eateries that serve all the specialties of Baler at a cheap price. So, if your squad is traveling on a budget, this is the place for you to spend your lunch at.
The perfect dessert after our heavy lunch: dirty ice cream by manong.
We took a rest for a couple of hours after eating, took some pictures in the town proper and came up with some witty banter for fun, #RelationshipGoals. Next up, some siesta time in Aniao Islets. Read on!
