The top 4 secrets for creating a successful online video content

VIDEO is an important digital marketing tool. On Facebook, videos are said to have 135% greater organic reach than posts with photos. YouTube, on the other hand, is set to overtake Google as the number 1 search engine. However, videos are still an underrated social media component here in the Philippines, according to TVeez Solutions, Inc. General Manager Alex Jusay, during his talk about Video for Digital Marketing.

Jusay was one of the speakers at DMCON 5: The 5th Digital Marketing Conference Philippines 2018 which happened last August 8 & 9, 2018 at Megatrade Conference Center, SM Megamall Mandaluyong City. Online video marketing is just one among the 14 seminar sessions discussed by the key players and most respected digital marketing experts in the industry.

How to start producing a digital video? As one of the lucky participants of this conference, I would like to reveal the top 4 secrets for creating a successful online video content, an essential tool in boosting your company’s digital campaign. These are the things to keep in mind before jumping into production.

4) Tell a story.

Filipinos love hearing a good story, which is why there is no better way to get your message out by telling a story. Ask these to yourself – (1) what is the message I want to convey? and (2) how do I turn it into a story?

3) Keep it short.

Ever noticed how fast you scroll through your feed? That is exactly the amount of time you only have to get the attention of your audience – around 3 seconds. Keep them watching your video by giving the best shots or most interesting points in the first 10 seconds.

2) Put a call to action.

Unlike televisions, social media is a two-way platform and getting feedback is really, really fast.  What is your main goal in posting this video content? Put it on the video and be clear about it so viewers will know what to do after watching.

1) Read and measure.

Based on the data provided by your platform of choice (reach, engagements, and clicks), you will be able to tell how your content is performing. Keep track of it and take note of what works and what doesn’t.

BONUS: He also shares that the top 3 most effective types of video content are customer testimonials, tutorials, and product demonstrations.

With this in mind, you may now begin with conceptualizing your video content or pre-production. It is the most crucial part in producing videos, so make sure you plan everything accordingly. Also, always remember that people are wired to see, not read. We retain 95% of the message when we’re watching while only 10% when reading, so even though videos require a little bit more work, rest assured it will all be worth it in the end.
