8 JMFyang Characters That Prove They’re Must-watch Actors

JM Ibarra and Sofia “Fyang” Smith are earning their stripes as actors to watch, and their new vertical drama can attest to that.

Another masterclass in kilig awaits fans of “JMFyang” this year, following the success of the pair’s first major movie, Almost Us. If their big-screen feat had you swooning like there’s no tomorrow, then you’ll definitely want to tune in to their latest project, Will You Fake-marry Me?

Sparks will fly in this lighthearted romance by Jojo Saguin, which portrays how love perseveres in the face of social adversities and class disparities. Fyang will take on the role of June, an optimistic tocino brand promoter whose life does a full 180 when she’s set up to marry her boss, the brooding Ping, played by JM. As they settle for a faux engagement and strive to make it work, they’ll soon realize that the deal they made with love is worth more than what they bargained for.

JM and Fyang are no strangers to heart-fluttering dynamics like June and Ping’s, which are guaranteed to have viewers grinning from ear to ear. These lovey-dovey tropes are second nature to them, and their palpable chemistry (both on- and offscreen) proves it.

Their trump cards as actors, however, also lie in their versatility and growth amid challenges. They’re certified scene-stealers no matter the genre. It’s no surprise that even their veteran co-stars can’t help but applaud them for taking a professional, value-adding approach to their craft.

That’s why we’re looking back on the many faces of JM and Fyang that add vibrance and range to their emerging filmographies. If you’re as stoked as we are for Will You Fake-marry Me?—which premieres today, June 30, 2026, on iWant—then their previous roles will certainly keep the hype going.

Wilberto and Jaja – Ghosting (2025)

True love will always prevail, even in the afterlife. This rings true to Ghosting, a whimsical web series by Theodore Boborol about nurturing your heart even when grief and complex emotions persist.

The show follows Jaja (Fyang), a hopeless romantic who seemingly unlocks a third eye after her ex-boyfriend (Kobie Brown) ghosts her. She then meets Wilberto (JM), a charming young man from the afterlife who joins Jaja in hopes of reconnecting with his sibling. It’s not long before Jaja and Wilberto’s feelings deepen, fostering a precious bond that transcends life and death.

JM as Max – Child No. 82: Anak ni Boy Kana (2025)

JM was a revelation as Max in Tim Rone Villanueva’s Child No. 82, one of the standout entries from last year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival. JM delivered a remarkable performance in this action-packed film, portraying a headstrong high school student who strives to prove that he’s the 82nd child of the Philippines’ biggest action-fantasy actor.

Fans and critics heaped immense praise on JM as he held his own alongside showbiz veterans, namely Rochelle Pangilinan, Vhong Navarro, and Irma Adlawan.

James and DJ Elle – Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins (2025)

The “2025” segment of Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins was a riot and a half, and we have JMFyang (as well as their Gen Z co-stars) to thank for that. In the second of three hair-raising episodes, what started as a high-energy Halloween party morphed into an all-out bloodbath where survival is the only way out.

JM and Fyang had us on the edge of our seats as James and DJ Elle. Their guttural screams and terrifying twists are at the heart of this modern-day horror frenzy.

Fyang as Raya – Love Is Never Gone (2026)

Loss, longing, anger, and sacrifice are at the heart of Love Is Never Gone, an intense 14-episode tale that you can stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Fyang’s acting chops flourish as Raya, a fierce young woman who isn’t afraid to stand her ground despite her sheltered upbringing. Fyang adds multitudes to Raya’s outlook on the world, making the show all the more intriguing.

RR and Janine – Almost Us (2026)

JM and Fyang brought major kilig vibes to the big screen last May as RR and Janine in Dan Villegas’s Almost Us. The pair showed us the ropes of “ruining the friendship” in this feel-good romantic comedy that took the nation by storm.

Almost Us is a love letter to all the RRs and Janines in our lives—our constants and “day ones” who might even become somebody more over time.
