Filipino fans of the iconic Japanese video game franchise Street Fighter are in for a treat, as a Filipino character is finally joining the roster.

During this year’s Summer Game Fest, Capcom unveiled its lineup of downloadable content (DLC) characters for Street Fighter 6. Leading the pack is Yasmine, a Filipina fighter who is set to make her debut in the game.

Yasmine is a high school student and martial artist who enters the World Warrior Tournament in search of her missing kuya, or older brother.

According to the Street Fighter Wiki, Yasmine’s design is inspired by the Philippine Eagle, the country’s national bird. Her outfit also incorporates the colors of the Philippine flag, featuring a red-and-blue jacket and matching bottoms, along with a sun emblem on her bicep and a white bra top.

She also uses a crescent-shaped karambit knife and utilizes a dance-inspired fighting style passed down by her grandfather.

Yasmine’s arrival marks the latest addition to the growing list of Filipino characters in video games. Over the years, gamers have been introduced to characters such as Jose Rizal from Tekken, Lapu-Lapu from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Neon from Valorant, among others.

Yasmine is scheduled to debut on August 3. Meanwhile, India’s Arjun and Bosch from the fictional nation of Nayshall are expected to arrive in Autumn 2026 and Spring 2027, respectively.
