Streaming platform Netflix recently announced that a new series titled The Dealer is currently in production. Hwang is on board as producer, with Squid Game’s production company Firstman Studio also involved behind the scenes.

According to Netflix’s synopsis, The Dealer follows Jung Geonhwa, a highly skilled casino dealer whose wedding plans suddenly unravel. Faced with unexpected obstacles, she’s drawn back into the high-risk world of gambling, where she taps into long-hidden abilities in an attempt to make it to the altar.

The series stars Jung So-min (Love Reset, Alchemy of Souls, Love Next Door) as Geonhwa, alongside Ryoo Seung-bum (Good News, Tazza: One Eyed Jack) as Hwang Chisu, a compulsive gambler. Joining them are Lee Soo-hyuk (S-Line) as casino player Jo Jun, and Ryu Kyung-soo (The Bequeathed) as Choi Wooseung—Geonhwa’s fiancé, described as both gentle and a sharp-witted detective.

The Dealer also marks the directorial debut of Choi Young-hwan, an acclaimed cinematographer known for films such as Smugglers, Tazza: The High Rollers, and The Thieves.

The series is set to premiere on Netflix, though a release date has yet to be announced.
