SPOTTED: A Filipino film made with a budget of Php 112,907!

The entertainment industry could be hefty in terms of funding. There are also other factors to think about and consider: the actors/actresses, the supporting directors and producers, food allowance, gas, makeup, among others. These people work hand in hand to produce a fine masterpiece that would entertain and be enjoyed by its audiences.

Times then and now were definitely different in Philippine entertainment. Ronald Rios can attest to that with a “piece of history” he uploaded on his Facebook account.

Wow, a film for Php 112,000.00?! Yes, the money’s value was different back then, but take a look at that breakdown!

“The budget breakdown came from Kuya Cesar Hernando, assistant director of Ishmael Bernal on his debut ‘Pagdating sa Dulo‘,” Rios shares to WHEN IN MANILA.  “He had cameo also on the film.”

“‘Pagdating sa Dulo’ was part of the 8th Reflexive Cinema Series in celebration of the Philippine cinema centennial. Kuys is like the Kobal Collection. He was able to keep hundreds of memorabilia in his collection. We were lucky that he was able to bring that piece of history during the screening at the CCP Dream Theatre. Even one of the producers, George Sison, was amazed too on the budget breakdown memorabilia that someone was able to keep it. I wonder how Ishmael would react if he saw it today, too.”

According to Inquirer.net, the movie was “a movie within a movie, with Rita showcasing her comic as well as her dramatic talent”. The same website also stated that it was “billed as a comedy, although a rather melancholy one”.

“The screenings were made possible thru the Society of Filipino Archivists for Film, CCP Media Arts Division and NCCA,” Rios finishes.
