Snacks & Ladders is a fun playground with good food to boot. The restaurant, owned by first-time entrepreneur Louie Lao, specializes in games played with snacks. This concept makes it a standout in Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.
Lao’s experiences as a child led to his inspiration of Snacks & Ladders. He amassed a board game collection over the course of his childhood. His family loved board games, so they often played together. So much so that they even traveled to many board game cafes in America. Lao took advantage of this experience and interviewed game cafe owners abroad.
One of my favorite things about this restaurant is its homey interior. A quick glance at the walls reveals a lengthy array of bookshelves stacked with board games. It also features life-size chess boards, miniature billiards, table tennis, and foosball. The setting provides the perfect ambiance for a board game bonding experience.
Another charm of this restaurant is their snacks. Why? The menu is perfect for a bonding session with your barkada. It was created by Executive Chef Marge Soliman. Her food and drinks aim to recreate foreign snacks by combining a foreign dish with local Filipino ingredients. Scroll down to check out some of her bestsellers!
If you like your snacks spicy, order some Buffalo wings! It comes with a healthy combination of carrots and celery that go well with the meat. The dish comes with a ranch dip and spicy curry mayo. Both sauces combined with the dish add a sweet and spicy tang.
Grilled Sandwich combined with cheese goes well for a day of fun and games. It also helps if your sandwich is filled with slow melting cheese. Plus, what’s not to love with a classic mixture of cheese and chips?
Snacks and Ladders also serve crispy and cheesy nachos, loaded with mango-tomato salsa and ground beef. It’s a sweet-spicy snack that’s comforting in all the right ways!
The Twisturon con Chocolate is a re-invention of a traditional Filipino favorite. It is a classic turon infused with chili choco sauce. The soft turon dipped in whipped cream and vanilla ice cream enhances the unique flair of this dessert. It is a sweet treat that’s perfect if you’re stressed out after a long day.
If you happen to be starving then order some crispy liempo to please your empty stomach. Snacks & Ladders serves succulent slices of liempo. The dish has a tangy flavor when mixed with their spicy curry mayo. It also comes with a serving of rice and carrots. Enjoy it with a board game to experience the uniqueness of this restaurant.
Craving ice cold shake? Order the creamy and comforting Strawberry Banana Ice Scrabble. If strawberry’s not your type, get the classic and chocolatey Gotcha Mocha Hansel.
Snacks and Ladders is definitely the place to be for a barkada bonding experience. Make sure to visit!
