Things got unexpectedly tense at the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore on November 13, 2025, when a man, identified as Johnson Wen, broke through the barricade and rushed toward Ariana Grande on the yellow carpet.
Following the encounter, the Singaporean government has since charged Johnson and sentenced him to nine days in jail. Authorities also confirmed that he has been deported and is no longer allowed entry into Singapore.

The Wicked: For Good premiere took place at Universal Studios Singapore, with Ariana walking alongside co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum.
Everything looked like your usual glam moment—until a man in a white shirt suddenly jumped over the barrier and ran straight toward Ariana, grabbing her by the shoulders before security intervened.
Cynthia reacted instantly, stepping between Ariana and the man as security tackled and removed him from the area. Several fan-shot videos captured the incident—including footage caught by our WhenInManila.com Associate Editor Therese Aseoche, who was on the ground at the premiere.

Online viewers later identified the man as Johnson Wen, a content creator known as “Pyjama Man.” In other clips posted by attendees, he appeared to attempt to approach Ariana again, even after being escorted out.
Ariana looked visibly shaken afterward, taking a moment to calm down while co-stars checked on her. The carpet program continued but ended earlier than expected, leaving some fans unsure of what happened until videos surfaced online.
Johnson later shared a video about the encounter, which quickly drew concern from users who pointed out that Ariana looked uncomfortable and that the stunt put people at risk. The self-proclaimed “troll” has previously disrupted concerts, film events, and international sports matches.
