There’s a new Pinoy Pop (P-pop) girl group in town, and these young ladies are here to prove that the best things in life come in threes.
Julia, Tasha, and Ezri Mitra, collectively known as DNA, have always known they were meant to be onstage together. They grew up surrounded by the country’s finest musical acts and other creative outlets that have honed their passion and craft. They even kick-started their journey as performers at a young age under the guidance of their exceptionally talented family:
- Their father, Raul Mitra, composer and musical director,
- Their mother, Cacai Mitra, singer and talent manager, as well as
- Their iconic aunt: none other than Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

Now, the Mitra sisters are earning their stripes as fully-fledged P-pop idols under ABS-CBN’s music label, StarPop. On October 9, 2025, they released “Don’t Ask Me Why,” their first single as DNA, and have since been making waves on numerous local music shows.
It’s just the beginning for Julia, Tasha, and Ezri. Still, they’ve already accomplished enough to show their growing fan base that nothing is impossible when you’re with a support system that nurtures your dreams against all odds. Here’s why you should support the girls as they let their voices be heard in the P-pop scene:
Talent In Their DNA
The inspiration behind DNA—the Mitra sisters’ simple yet striking group name—is straightforward. They’re biological siblings with star power in their systems—or, as the girls say, “the power of three, moving as one.”
“Music runs in our blood, as we come from a musical family,” Julia explained in an interview with MJ Felipe for Are You G. The girls get this point across further in “Don’t Ask Me Why,” their daring and unapologetic debut single that lets their talent speak for itself. DNA’s rightful place in the P-pop industry needs no explanation, and the trio is only getting started.
Learning From the Best In OPM

Performing onstage comes naturally to the Mitra sisters. They’ve been singing and dancing for as long as they can remember, but their colorful journeys as DNA truly kicked off when Regine Velasquez-Alcasid took them under her wing.
As Regine’s nieces, DNA has looked up to her renowned legacy in Original Pinoy Music (OPM) to improve and grow as artists. The pressure to live up to their aunt’s superstar status was evident throughout the group’s preparations, but the girls are taking it as motivation to give it their all on every stage they share.
“There’s definitely pressure. Just look at where tita is [now], that’s not easy to live up to. But more than anything, we’re lucky that we have her and the support system we currently have,” Tasha shared on Are You G.
Three Sisters With Many Skills

Julia, Tasha, and Ezri’s shared passion for performing exposed them to numerous artistic avenues as they grew up. The three frequently joined school plays, which eventually helped Ezri develop a natural penchant for songwriting that she put to use in writing and composing “Don’t Ask Me Why.”
“I discovered songwriting when I was young as a way to cope with the stress of losing things, because I’m so messy,” Ezri jokingly revealed to MJ. As a creative at heart, Ezri also ventured into theatre and various forms of visual art. She graduated cum laude from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Information Design and a minor degree in Japanese Studies.
Julia, though initially shy and reserved, has always loved to sing. In college, she stepped out of her shell, joined a theater organization, and blossomed into the performer she was born to be.
DNA’s resident vlogger, Tasha, can effortlessly initiate conversations about anything under the sun. As a kid, she brought a camera everywhere to document her family’s special occasions and everyday bonding activities. She loves the spotlight, and it definitely loves her (and her sisters) back.

What’s Next for DNA
Julia, Tasha, and Ezri are taking their time establishing their presence in the P-pop scene following their successful debut. “Don’t Ask Me Why” is just one of their ways to introduce themselves to their fellow idols and Gen Z performers, whom we hope the girls will share the stage with in the future.
On October 12, 2025, the Mitra sisters joined Regine on ASAP for a heartfelt rendition of “Heart Shaker” by TWICE. We can’t wait to see the other covers and special performances that the girls have lined up next.
Besides their debut promotions and interviews, DNA has also been getting up close and personal with their fans online. You can watch each member’s Get to Know Me mini-vlog and learn more fun facts about them on the official TikTok account of Star Magic.
