Record-breaking Total of 55 Summa Cum Laude Graduates Honored at UP Diliman

A total number of 55 students will be merited with the highest academic honor of Summa Cum Laude in the University of the Philippines Diliman’s 108th Commencement Exercises this Sunday, June 30. This is the highest recorded number of Summa graduates not only in the history of the Diliman campus but also of the entire UP System.

The College of Engineering provides the majority of Summa graduates with 18 students, followed by the College of Science with 12, and the College of Business Administration with 6.

The rest come from the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (5), College of Fine Arts (4), College of Human Kinetics (3), School of Economics (3), College of Arts and Letters (1), College of Mass Communication (1), College of Education (1), and School of Statistics (1).

Leading the batch is class valedictorian Jaron Nicolas T. Uy, BS Chemical Engineering, with a weighted general average of 1.019.

Joshua Emmanuel T. Ramos, BA Philosophy, will speak on behalf of the graduating class during the University-wide Commencement Exercise.

UP Diliman will also be giving recognition to 437 Magna Cum Laude and 1,173 Cum Laude students. Of the total graduates, 3,980 will receive a baccalaureate degree while 1,069 will be conferred a graduate diploma, masters, and doctoral degree.
