Recess by Chef Chris: Enjoy Break Time With Contemporary Comfort Food!

Recess Comfort Food

One thing that can always compensate for a stressful day is good food. Restaurants come left and right, but a food trip wouldn’t be complete without trying the recipes of one of the Metro’s most notable kitchen masters, Chef Chris Locher. Recess is his most recent food haven, located amidst the lane of restaurants in Jupiter St., Makati.

Recess by Chef Chris: Enjoy Break Time With Comfort Contemporary Cuisine!

Recess by Chef Chris launched in November 2013, aiming to cater to the food cravings of the people in the city. Driven to pursue his passion in cooking and creating recipes, Chef Chris introduces contemporary comfort food showcased with his up-to-the-minute food reinventions.

As the name suggests, the restaurant’s architectural aesthetic will remind you of everything about school. Their interiors are designed with what you usually see on campus: lockers, books, and the ceiling is even printed with chemical elements. It doesn’t end there, either. Some items in the menu are also named after the most common chemical elements, such as Calcium, Platinum, Magnesium and the list goes on. Even if you don’t admit it, I know that break time or recess is everyone’s fave subject (as if it were actually a subject) in school. There’s so much more to love about it now that it’s already a favorite hangout – with comfort food to boot.

Recess’ Best Comfort Food

Recess Comfort Food

Recess Salad P390

(Mixed greens, assorted grapes, apple slices, orange segments, cherry tomato and cucumber tossed with light grape seed oil dressing and topped with balsamic caramelized almonds)

This salad was nothing, if not delicious. It’s something delightful enough to make me un-favorite all the salads I’ve ever tasted in my life, I kid you not. Two thumbs up for this!

Salad J50 P340

(Romaine hearts tossed in creamy gamonzola dressing, topped with crispy capers, slices of fresh pears, perfected with crispy bacon and seven minute boiled egg)

The Original: Tin SN 50 P790

(Chorizo, bacon, ham, salami, assorted peppers and mushrooms)

The creative mind behind the restaurant concocted a first of its kind: thin-crust pizza made of oat wheat, delectable toppings and served with a bowl of greens.  This creation made a buzz out of its deliciousness, which even aroused other restaurants to create their own version of it. Nothing beats the pioneer, though. As it was, and will ever be, The Original is unsurpassed. When you dine at Recess, get ready to be pleased by this house specialty.

(The custom way of eating this is by wrapping the arugula and alfalfa sprouts with the panizza, rolling it until it becomes good for a bite.)
