In the Philippines,ย there are laws and ordinances that protect women against abuse and harassment. However, this is not enough. Certain lapses in our laws still allow for loopholes that allow perpetrators to get away with abusive behaviour towards women. In today’s times, there are certain amendments in legislature needed to remedy the situation. Womens advocate Senator Risa Hontiveros aims to correct this with the Tres Marias Bill that have been filed in Senate. The bill forwards penalties for acts against women online and in the real world. It also proposes amendments to already existing Anti-Violence Against Women & ย Children and a Anti-Sexual Harassment ย laws.
