Of course, Spanish food wouldn’t be complete without the ever-famous paella! Whether you prefer yours with meat or with seafood, Picada has got both – and they’re both well worth the money.
Paella Negra – Php425
Paella is always a little pricey, but at this price, the Paella Negra at Picada can easily feed 3-4 people, depending on whether you order more food along with your paella. This squid ink rice dish has all of your favorite types of seafood on it: squid, prawns, and various shellfish.
Paella Valencia – Php475
If you’re more of a meat lover, though, or don’t like squid ink (but why wouldn’t you?), get the Paella Valencia instead. It has chicken, pork, chorizo and shellfish on it. I have also come to find that this tends to be the better choice if you have kids in your dining party. 🙂
Chorizo Pasta – Php285
I found the pasta a bit dry when I tasted it and it probably wouldn’t be my top choice to order at Picada since there are so many other uber delicious dishes that trump it; but at least pasta lovers know that they’ll be able to find something to eat at Picada, as well.
Crema Catalina – Php125
If you love creme brûlée, this is a fun version of it that involves… alcohol. That’s right! There’s Sambuca in this. In case you haven’t heard of Sambuca, it’s this type of alcohol that has a bit of a liquorice taste. Surprisingly, it works really well in this almond cream custard. A brave and successful fusion!
Churros
Without exaggeration, these are the BEST churros I have tasted in Manila so far! I am very particular about churros (ask any of my friends – I can be quite the pain in the butt when it comes down to it) and these instantly went to the top of my list. They have just the right amount of crunch and chewiness… I can’t explain it. You simply have to try them out yourself!
Of course we can’t forget their drinks! Picada has this great wine promo that is available every night where you can get unlimited wine for only Php499 per head! Time to get your friends together and bond over wine! Just don’t overdo it. You’ll be surprised by how lightweight some people can be when it comes to wine. Haha. Their sangria – both the red and the white – are also extremely good, though; so make sure you try them sometime, as well!
