As confirmed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the brilliant mind behind the fascinating research is Marla Via F. Abao and was recently hailed as the best oral presentor for her research.

Maria shared to Manila Bulletin that the Android application was programmed by her and her teammates Rodrigo Perando and Kyle Dulay. The program is designed to procure the disaster kits to flooded area the faster and the most affordable way.

The team bested 28 other teams chosen to present their projects out of 40 projects that were registered in the recent International Science fair held at the National University of Singapore-High School of Math and Science.

The 11th-grade student further stated in the report that their application “could work virtually everywhere, especially when a flood happens.”

Wow, a 16-year-old thought something to better handle our disaster management in the Philippines.

Kudos to you and hopefully this will eventually materialize.
