The Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and Pinoy Pop (P-pop) industries keep getting bigger, better, and brighter no matter where you look. As both fields continue to evolve through their genre-fluid sounds and diverse rosters of artists across every region, we can’t help but cheer for our local artists and the much-deserved achievements they’ve earned through the years.
Now that Filipino talent has gotten to shine more on international stages, it’s no surprise that we’ve unapologetically become fans of our homegrown performers and their works of art. Without them, OPM and P-pop wouldn’t be the unstoppable powerhouses they are today. That’s why they’ve also become a meaningful source of inspiration for a wide variety of TV shows since their modern emergence in the 2010s.

Music has been the focal point of many original stories that’ve captured our hearts since they hit the airwaves and streaming services. These special projects have made conscious efforts to champion OPM and P-pop, all while reminding us of the nostalgic musicals and other youth-oriented media that ruled our childhoods.
Whether you absolutely adore Filipino songs and artists or want to broaden your palate of local TV shows, we’ve gathered five must-watch titles that highlight the magic of our local music scene. Here’s what you should know about each one, and why you should give them a chance:
Born to Shine (2026 – Present)
GMA’s latest afternoon teleserye, Born to Shine, gives us an inside look into the highly competitive P-pop industry and its toxic standards for aspiring artists. The show stars exceptionally talented actors and singers from every generation, such as Manilyn Reynes, Vina Morales, Julie Anne San Jose, Zephanie, and Michael Sager, to name a few.
The Next Big Band (2026)

Golden Scenery of Tomorrow (2025 – 2026)
This list won’t be complete without the romantic book-to-screen adaptation that took the nation by storm. There are countless reasons to love Golden Scenery of Tomorrow, and the music is the icing on the cake. Thanks to the 22-episode show’s heartfelt ballads by Wilbert Ross, The Juans, and more, viewers developed a newfound appreciation for OPM songs, as they brought to life the story of Avianna “Via” Diaz and Larkin Sanchez.
The BINI Docuseries (2024)
