LOOK: Ogie Alcasid Bids Goodbye to Massive Toy Collection to Raise Funds for COVID-19 Test Kits

Ogie Alcasid is making a noble sacrifice for the good of the Filipino public.

On Instagram, the singer-songwriter revealed that he is giving away his massive collection of toys of more than two decades to help Angel Locsin with her latest “Shop and Share” initiative to raise funds for COVID-19 mass testing in the Philippines.

“Been collecting these for over 24 years. Time to let go of most toys so someone else may take care of them and at the same time people will be tested for [COVID-19]. Just helping an angel with her advocacy,” Ogie wrote on his post.

These toys, among many other items that fellow celebrities will donate for the cause, will most likely be auctioned off on an e-commerce website—the proceeds of which will then be spent to buy more COVID-19 test kits for those who have no access to them.

This “Shop and Share” project was first launched in 2009 by Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis to provide aid to the victims of Typhoon Ondoy.

“And, now, we humbly reach out again. These are hard times, truly frightening times for the Filipino people, especially with coronavirus cases still on the rise,” Angel wrote on her post reintroducing the project. “We would like to revisit the idea of artists coming together and helping those who need it the most. This time, with the funds we raise, we would like to purchase test kits and allow testing opportunities for the poorer sectors in the hopes of helping out in the efforts to provide mass testing in the country.”
