McDonald’s Revealed Their Sausage McMuffin with Egg Recipe to Keep Our Tummies Happy At Home

Four weeks into Metro Manila’s enhanced community quarantine and the downtime has made quite a number of us into amateur cooks and bakers. But if you’re getting tired trying out all these new food trends and sophisticated Bon Appetit recipes, why not try something comforting and familiar?

McDonald’s UK recently revealed the recipe for their beloved Sausage McMuffin with Egg and I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to try it out! Don’t be intimidated — it really is as easy as it sounds.

The recipe is as follows:

Ingredients

  • English muffins
  • 75g of sausage meat
  • Eggs
  • American slice cheese
  • Potato (optional for hashbrowns — but when are hashbrowns ever just optional?)

Procedure

  • For the sausage patty, season the meat with a pinch of salt and pepper before shaping it into a ball. Flatten it out into a patty shape and cook under a pre-heated grill for 6-7 minutes on each side, or as per the cooking instructions on the packet.
  • Fry the egg inside a circular mold to achieve the iconic McMuffin egg shape. Brush the inside of your metal cast with a little oil and place it in a frying pan. Pour in just enough water to cover the base and bring it to the boil. Crack the eggs into the ring and cover the pan, leaving it to cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • If you don’t have a circular mold, then a regular fried egg will do.
  • Toast the English muffins until they are golden brown, and layer the patty and egg on top of the slice of cheese.
  • For the hashbrowns, grate a potato into a bowl, mix in an egg and season with salt and pepper. Heat some oil in a pan, add a spoonful of the mixture and flatten it out to cook until golden brown on both sides.
