Manila International Auto Show 2014: 10 Car Crazy Decades!

Custom car heaven.

Custom car heaven.

Not only the big players get to have fun; small businesses do, as well. Custom cars and restorers do get a big part of the show since they are important and valuable players in our local car culture.

The Toyota KE25. Just darn sexy.

If I ever get to win the Lotto, this is what I have in mind. Not a Porsche, not a Lambo, not even a Ferrari.

Every now and then, something will surprise you at MIAS like this impeccable Toyota Sports 800. It is the first time I’ve seen such a car and I was lucky that the owner was there too for a short interview. I found out that it is the first time he entered the car to this event and most of the parts where sourced in Japan. When I asked how much he spent, he politely stated that, “When you already past the 500,000.00 peso mark, you just stop counting.” Knowing full well that this will never sell for insane amounts of cash, this is more a labor of love.

I’m rooting for the Toyota Sports 800 the best of show.

What is a car show without the sexy car models? Manila International Auto Show also has that for you.

More eyecandy.

Why settle for one model when you can get three?

Eye candy from minor exhibitors as well.

Car models like them will surely make roaming around the 30,000 exhibit floor area more pleasurable.

Yes, they would be happy to oblige for a photo opportunity and a photo with you as well.

If you are a budding photographer who is just starting out, it would be nice to know the majority of us also started with car shows and even some of the current well-known models started here so don’t be shy to ask for a photo opportunity; you might get to know a friend or even a contact in the future but please be a gentleman and treat them with respect and professionalism.

As I end my quick trip of the 10th Manila International Auto Show, it is always fun to see old and new cars since it easily brings out the kid in me. I loved automobiles for as long I can remember and perhaps my first love before photography. I cannot wait for the 11th MIAS next year because it will surely still be as fun like visiting for first time and who knows what new car will be on our shores?
