If you’re one of the people wondering if they should make the switch to vinyl, maybe this will convince you: you can buy a turntable decked out in artwork by National Artist Benedict Cabrera, or BenCab.
The turntable is designed with the iconic Sabel, a recurring figure in the artist’s work. According to BenCab, the woman is based on a female scavenger walking around his home in Bambang, Tondo when he was younger.
The turntable is a limited-edition collaboration between BenCab, UK-based audio equipment manufacturers Rega, and Secret Fresh Gallery.
According to Secret Fresh, only 100 pieces have been made and the Philippine consignment is selling well. The turntable will be launched on December 1 at the gallery and will cost P65,000.
