Content creator-turned-actress Pipay Kipay recently shared how she resonates with fellow queer influencer Mimiyuuuh’s “unrelatable” allegations, emphasizing that change is inevitable.

During her guest appearance on Think, Talk, Tea—a podcast hosted by filmmaker, content creator, and host Kring Kim—Pipay said some of her followers have been lamenting that she and her content are evolving.
“May mga comments akong nakukuha na, ‘Ma, iniwan mo na kami sa kanal.’ So, iniisip ko siya, ‘Good thing ba ’yon o bad thing?’ Kasi ang iniisip ko, hindi naman sa umalis na ako sa humor nating mga bakla—na kanal-kanal—pero ano bang ibig sabihin niyon?” she said. “Ang feel ko, ang tinutukoy nila ’yung—nag-ayos ako—feeling nila hindi na sila nakaka-relate. ’Di ba naging issue ’yan with Mimiyuuuh? Kaya nafi-feel ko ’yun. Sabi ko, ‘Ano bang gusto niyo? Pare-parehas pa rin tayo?’ ’Di ba, kasi sino bang ayaw ng change? Sino bang ayaw ng progress?”

The 25-year-old influencer argued that evolving her physical appearance, personality, and content was essential to her growth, noting that adapting keeps her and her videos relevant today.
“May mga nagko-comment na, ‘Miss ko na ’yung old Pipay,’ ganyan-ganyan. Hindi ba nila naiintindihan na ang tao ay nagbabago, ’di ba? Ano bang gusto niyo, kung paano niyo ako nakilala five years ago, pare-parehas pa rin tayo? Hindi ba ’pag five years na, baka ma-bored na kayo sa akin kung pare-parehas pa rin tayo?” she explained.

Pipay’s evolution as a content creator
Pipay started creating content in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, with short comedic skits. One of her most iconic TikTok videos that propelled her to fame featured her walking down the street, loudly shouting and searching for a fictional boy named “Juswa.”
Building on the character’s viral success, she released a novelty parody track titled “Talong ni Juswa” on YouTube, which racked up millions of views and cemented her status as a mainstream internet sensation.
Beyond her skits, Pipay became known for embracing her unique physical traits—such as her congenital hand deformities and protruding teeth—which online trolls often targeted. Instead of taking the negative comments to heart, Pipay embraced the “dogshow” humor, converting the banter into engaging content that earned her an even larger following.
What truly set her apart from other pandemic-era influencers was her sharp wit. Audiences praised her for blending loud, energetic comedy with subtle satire aimed at lockdown policies and government pandemic responses, perfectly capturing the frustrations of quarantine.
In her almost six years in the content creation industry, people watched Pipay evolve, particularly in her appearance, when she decided to embrace her feminine side after undergoing breast augmentation surgery in 2024.
Navigating backlash and political engagement
While bashing was not new to her, Pipay faced major political backlash in 2022 when she actively campaigned for then-presidential candidate Leni Robredo.

“Kasi ako, nung nag-talk ako ng politics, ayaw na nila sa akin. Pero last week lang, gustong-gusto nila ’yung content kong pinagti-tripan ko ’yung sarili ko—aasarin pa nila ako. ‘Pag self-kineme, keri lang sa kanila, pero kapag nag-talk na ako na medyo [serious], ayaw na nila,” Pipay reflected.
She revealed that she lost about 500,000 followers during the election campaign because of her political stance. However, she stood by her decision, viewing her platform as a tool for civic engagement and social awareness.
Reflecting on the experience, Pipay realized that her transition into a more vocal, self-aware creator challenged standard expectations of comedic influencers.

“Ang gusto kasi nila, ’pag baklang kanal ka, baklang kanal ka lang,” Pipay noted. “Sinabi ’to ni Meme Vice sa amin, na ang ayaw na ayaw ng tao, ’pag comedian ka, dapat nakakatawa ka lang, dapat pangit ka lang. Pero ’pag naging matalino ka na, nag-ayos ka, medyo may kalaban ka na.”
Despite pushback from critics and viewers nostalgic for her early work, Pipay remains steadfast. For her, embracing personal transformation and career evolution is vital to staying authentic—both as a creator and as a person.
