The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) unveiled plans to build the “Home of the UAAP”, which is set to become the central venue for UAAP events. This is in partnership with Akari Lighting & Technology Corp., with ASYA Design.
“Home of the UAAP” will be a 1.8-hectare state-of-the-art facility with a 6,000-seat capacity set to rise on Amang Rodrigue Avenue in Pasig City. “We are incredibly thankful to Akari for this generous partnership,” UAAP Season 87 Chairman and University of the Philippines President Atty. Angelo โJijilโ Jimenez expressed. “After years of dreaming and planning, the UAAP finally has a place to call home. This facility will not only host competitions but will also stand as a testament to the spirit of unity and excellence that the UAAP represents,โ he continued.
In addition, UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rene โReboโ Saguisag Jr. said it is more than just a sports arena. “The Home of the UAAP is not just for the league; it is for the student-athletes who are the heart and soul of the UAAP. This is their homeโa place where they can compete, grow, and thrive,” he stated.
Nevertheless, Atty. Saguisag clarified, “The 6,000-seating capacity is based on the average attendance of most games, but the larger, high-profile games will continue to be held in our bigger venues.”
Meanwhile, Akari Chief Executive Officer Christopher Tiu explained, “At Akari, we believe in building legacies that go beyond lighting solutions. This Home of the UAAP project is our way of supporting grassroots sports development, where young student-athletes can grow, excel, and shine on the national stage.” He also expressed, “I am honored that Akari is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of varsity sports in the Philippines.”
ASYA Design shared their inspiration for the design of the Home of the UAAP in a social media post. “The design concept draws inspiration from the fluid, interlaced movements of 18 distinct sports, seamlessly woven into the arenaโs architectural form. This dynamic structure embodies the essence of harmony and sportsmanship, reflecting the rhythm and energy of athletic competition,” it wrote.

“The infinity form also unites the universitiesโ colors symbolizing strength in unity, with architecture featuring varied colored lights for each university,” it added. “UAAP needs a physical home to embody their legacy, where they can nurture future athletes and foster a culture of excellence, care, and unity in sports, country, God, and community.”
