LOOK: Here’s Why LizQuen Series ‘Make It With You’ Was Canceled

After news broke out that Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil’s teleserye “Make It With You” is no longer returning to cable television after the show was suspended almost three months ago due to the ongoing public health crisis, many LizQuen fans took to social media to express disappointment over being left hanging in the love story of characters Billy and Gabo.

Many others, however, wanted to find out the reason behind the cancellation which “Make It With You” director Theodore Boborol explained on Twitter.

“Believe me. It was also hard for everyone,” the filmmaker said following the announcement of Liza’s talent manager, Ogie Diaz, regarding the state of the primetime series. He explained that the other dramas that were re-airing on the new Kapamilya Channel already shot a number of episodes prior to the suspension, whereas the LizQuen series did not.

“The returning dramas have multiple episodes already in the can even before the pandemic hit,” he said in answer to a fan’s query.

On a separate tweet, he added, “ABS-CBN was already badly hit by the pandemic, and then suffered a double blow when its renewal was not granted. Decisions had to be made and we respect and understand why it ought to be done.”

“We are not the only one. Let us just support the shows that will continue airing and the new shows that will be launched.”

Other paused shows, including “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”, “A Soldier’s Heart” and “Love Thy Woman”, will be returning starting June 13, Saturday, on the Kapamilya Channel, which will be available on SKY, Cablelink, G Sat, and most member-cable operators of the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA) nationwide that are not covered by the cease and desist order issued by the National Telecommunications Commission to ABS-CBN Network.
