LIST: All the Upcoming Disney and Pixar Movies to Watch Out For

Disney and Pixar unveiled the lineup of upcoming animated and live-action family films and television series for the next few years at the D23 Expo in California earlier today! You’ve probably heard a few of them like “Inside Out 2” and “Disenchanted,” but there’s really a lot more to watch out for. So without further ado, here’s a complete list of all the upcoming Disney and Pixar movies!

“Hocus Pocus 2” (September 30, 2022)

After 29 years, the Halloween classic finally gets a sequel reuniting its original castโ€“Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy! It also stars Doug Jones from โ€œThe Shape of Waterโ€, Whitney Peak from โ€œGossip Girlโ€, Lilia Buckingham from โ€œDirtโ€, Belisa Escobedo from โ€œAmerican Horror Storiesโ€, Hannah Waddingham from โ€œTed Lassoโ€, Tony Hale from โ€œVeepโ€, Sam Richardson from โ€œThe Tomorrow Warโ€ and โ€œGood Boysโ€, Juju Brener from โ€œVanquishโ€, Froy Gutierrez from โ€œTeen Wolfโ€, Taylor Paige Henderson and Nina Kitchen.

“Zootopia+” (November 9, 2022)

“Zootopia” is becoming an original series on Disney+! This comes after the 2016 film that centers on a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive became a success. Further information about this, however, is yet to be disclosed.

“Strange World” (November 23, 2022)

Walt Disney Animation Studiosโ€™ all-new feature film โ€œStrange Worldโ€ features the voice of Jake Gyllenhaal from โ€œSpider-Man: Far from Homeโ€ as Searcher Clade! The adventure movie follows the story of Searcher who is part of a family of explorers, as they journey deep into an uncharted and treacherous land. This new Disney animated film is helmed by Oscarยฎ-winning director Don Hall, who also directed โ€œBig Hero 6โ€ and โ€œRaya and the Last Dragonโ€. It is also co-directed and written by Qui Nguyen, one of the writers of โ€œRaya and the Last Dragonโ€.

“Disenchanted” (November 24, 2022)

Just in time for the holidays, the much-anticipated sequel to โ€œEnchantedโ€ is almost here reuniting Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden! Directed by Adam Shankman, they will also be joined by Maya Rudolph, Gabriella Baldacchino, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jayma Mays. Plus, it features new songs from Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. After 15 years, Giselle searches for a more fairy-tale kind of life and tries to determine what “happily ever after” truly means to her and her family.

“Haunted Mansion” (March 10, 2023)

The latest in Disney’s long-running line of theme park movie adaptations is said to star Jared Leto, Danny DeVito, Owen Wilson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, and more! Directed by Justin Simien, “Haunted Mansion” also reportedly includes a cameo by Winona Ryder.

“The Little Mermaid” (May 26, 2023)

“The Little Mermaid” is a live-action reimagining of Disney studioโ€™s Oscarยฎ-winning animated musical classic! Its star-studded cast consists of singer and actress Halle Bailey (โ€œgrown-ishโ€) as Ariel, Tony Awardยฎ winner Daveed Diggs (โ€œHamilton,โ€ โ€œSnowpiercerโ€) as the voice of Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay (โ€œLuca,โ€ โ€œRoomโ€) as the voice of Flounder, Awkwafina (โ€œRaya and the Last Dragonโ€) as the voice of Scuttle, Jonah Hauer-King (โ€œA Dogโ€™s Way Homeโ€) as Prince Eric, Art Malik (โ€œHomelandโ€) as Sir Grimsby, Noma Dumezweni (โ€œMary Poppins Returnsโ€) as Queen Selina, Oscarยฎ winner Javier Bardem (โ€œNo Country for Old Men,โ€ โ€œBeing the Ricardosโ€) as King Triton, and two-time Academy Awardยฎ nominee Melissa McCarthy (โ€œCan You Ever Forgive Me?โ€ โ€œBridesmaidsโ€) as Ursula.

“Elemental” (June 16, 2023)

Directed by Peter Sohn (“The Good Dinosaur”), this new Pixar animated feature stars Mamoudou Athie (“Jurassic World Dominion”) and Leah Lewis (“The Half of It”). Inspired by the director’s childhood, “Elemental” follows the story of an unlikely pair, Ember (Lewis) and Wade (Athie)โ€“a fiery young woman and the go-with-the-flow guy.

“Peter Pan & Wendy” (2023)

Once again, Disney is retelling the tale of Peter Pan in a live-action film! Further details are yet to be disclosed, but it’s looking good so far based on a tweet by Walt Disney Studios!

“Win or Lose” (2023)

This upcoming Pixar original series stars Will Forte as Coach Dan, the Pickles team coach who is responsible for keeping a team of misfits all together. “Win or Lose” is from filmmakers Michael Yates, Carrie Hobson, and David Lally.

“Iwaju” (2023)

Set in a futuristic version of Lagos, Nigeria, the upcoming Disney show will reportedly deal with issues such as inequality, innocence, and the current status quo.

“Wish” (November 2023)

Set in the Kingdom of Wishes, “Wish” explores how Disney’s iconic wishing star came to be! Directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, it stars Ariana DeBose as Asha, the movie’s protagonist.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” (2024)

This “The Lion King” prequel will reportedly reveal the story of Mufasa before becoming king, who was actually an orphan. While it seems to be another classic tear-jerking movie by Disney, the story will be told by the comedic duoโ€“Timon and Pumbaa!

“Snow White” (2024)

The classic fairytale finally gets a live-action film starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen! Tony Award-winning actor Andrew Burnap is also set to play the role of Prince Jonathan.

“Elio” (2024)

Pixar introduced Elio as “a boy who finds himself transported across the galaxy & mistaken for the intergalactic Ambassador for our planet Earth.” Directed by Adrian Molina and produced by Mary Alice Drumm, it stars America Ferrera as Olga Solis and Yonas Kibreab as her son, Elio.

“Inside Out” (2024)

Amy Poehler is returning for the upcoming sequel of “Inside Out”! Now a teenager, Riley is bound to experience a whole new lot of emotions. “Inside Out 2” will be directed by Kelsey Mann, produced by Mark Nielsen, and written by Meg LeFauve.
