These Lasallians started a fundraiser for Angkas drivers— here’s how you can help

A little goes a long way!

Frontliners come in many different forms. There are healthcare workers who take care of the sick, security staff who man checkpoints, restaurant staff, and riders who buy and deliver food, groceries, and essentials amid the quarantine. While a lot of donation drives focus on providing for nurses and doctors, we can’t forget the very riders who literally go out of their way to make sure we have everything we need.

Santugon sa Tawag ng Panahon (or Santugon for short) did just that. This sociopolitical student organization from De La Salle University wants to help these hardworking riders, so they created a fundraiser for them. That way, they can pay it forward to the very people whose income has been affected by the ongoing quarantine, particularly those from Angkas.

Ride and Provide Initiative

Through the leadership of Gelo Casipe, Maxine Ganzon, Andrea Mangahas, Maphi Ona, Britney Padres, and Anton Reyes; the initiative “Ride and Provide” aims to give on-the-go kits to 1,000 Angkas bikers. The kit will not only help feed them but also express gratitude and appreciation for their service.

Each on-the-go kit includes bottled water, biscuits, bread, juice, vitamin C, and a reusable mask. Through their generous sponsors, the students were also able to include supplements and dinner rolls in the bag. Plus, each kit only costs P75!

If you would like to donate and help their cause, you can deposit cash via BDO or GCash, the account details of which can be found below. For donations in kind, you can contact their representative Britney Paderes at 09273085261.

Aside from these on-the-go kits, Santugon will be including personal and heartfelt letters of gratitude, which the team gathered from #OneLinerParaSaFrontliner, an online initiative by Conquer COVID— another Lasallian-led initiative.

Should they exceed their goal, the proceeds will be used in other efforts to help Angkas riders. For instance, Santugon is looking into a potential partnership with gasoline companies. This will help with their gasoline expenses since it is essential for them to get around.
