Symphony (PHP 380.00)

Another dish that’s worth a try is Kessaku’s signature Symphony dish: a medley of diced spicy tuna and salmon sashimi layers on a base of sushi rice coated in tempura batter, and topped with shredded kani doused in Japanese mayonnaise.  The harmonious combination of its various textures and flavors it offers is truly a symphony to the taste buds.

Ushi Ebi Tempura (PHP 280 – 650.00)

Kessaku keeps the deliciously top-notch dining pace going with their offerings of Soft-Shell Crab and Ushi Ebi tempura. Though I found these to be a bit too flaky, the amazingly light and crisp batter was well worth the mess. The crab was impeccably soft, and the tiger prawns plump and juicy; no wonder these dishes are some of Kessaku’s best sellers.

Angus Prime Beef Teppanyaki

Not to be missed are Kessaku’s wide range of classic Japanese fare that are masterfully rendered, giving your all-time favorites a pleasant upgrade. Their Tori Kuwayaki was crisp and juicy, and was subtly seasoned to make way for the rich teriyaki sauce it was coated with. This was served with the most amazing agadeshi tofu that was so smooth velvety it practically melts in your mouth. Other Japanese staples include Kessaku’s Mixed Kamameshi that was a filling meal on its own, Gyoza, and Angus Prime Beef Teppanyaki, which is best paired with their Angus Prime chahan.

Overall, Kessaku breaks the stereotype of commercialized Japanese restaurants, and continues to make a name for itself with high-quality Japanese cuisine at a more affordable price. I urge you to make the drive out to the south; it’ll definitely be worth it. To make the experience completely worth your while, Kessaku also offers unlimited cocktails with their all-day happy hour promo from Mondays to Thursdays for only PHP 299. Take your pick from mojitos, margaritas or lychee martinis to go with your Japanese eats.
