On September 17, Janella shared her sentiments on X, calling out some members of the community for throwing hateful comments. However, the actress did not specify the reason behind the remarks.

“It’s bothersome how sometimes those who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community are the ones who come up with the most homophobic (lesbophobic, even) comments,” she wrote.

“Criticism and opinions can be thrown without making unnecessary remarks about personal preference, appearance and how people choose to comfortably present themselves. Not to mention those of you who laugh along with the colorist and misogynistic comments. Backwards much?” she added.

Following this post, some netizens agreed with the 27-year-old actress.

“No one deserves insults for being who they are, especially as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Their identity is valid, and they don’t deserve any kind of disrespect or insult. Everyone including LGBTQIA+ people, deserves kindness and respect never insults,” one social media user.

Another netizen commented: “No one deserves to be on the receiving end of that kind of rhetoric. Sending love.”

The Killer Bride actress was linked to her Open Endings co-star Klea Pineda, with speculations claiming that she was the reason behind the latter’s breakup with model Katrice Kierulf.

However, Klea dismissed the third-party allegations in an interview.

“I’m aware sa nangyayari but sinasabi ko, ako na nagsasabi mismo sa inyo na walang third party na nangyari (I’m aware of what’s happening, but I’m telling you myself that there was no third party involved),” she said.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, the Under Parallel Skies actress took the opportunity to shut down the speculations thrown against her.

“Hindi po ako part ng breakup. Hindi po ako third party (I am not part of the breakup. I am not a third party). I’d like to exclude myself from that,” she stated.

Janella Salvador and Klea Pineda are set to star in the Cinemalaya feature Open Endings alongside Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Leanne Mamanong.
