Art Burst PH Celebrates Filipino Student Artists Through Local and International Milestones

What happens when Filipino students are given more than a place to learn art?

They gain the confidence to create, the courage to be seen, and opportunities to take their work beyond the classroom.

This was the story behind Art Burst PH’s recent local and international milestones, as Filipino student artists showcased their work at Beyond the Canvas 2026 in Quezon City, earned distinctions through an international art assessment platform, and participated in an exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

At the heart of these achievements is Beyond the Canvas 2026, Art Burst PH’s student grand exhibition and awarding held at 3F Mezzanine 2, Opus Mall, Bridgetowne, Quezon City, from September 5 to 10, 2026, with the grand exhibition and awarding taking place on September 5.

The exhibition featured 47 student artists and 94 artworks, representing students ranging in age from 6 to 68 years old.

But Beyond the Canvas was never meant to be simply about putting artwork on display.

It was a celebration of everything that happens before the artwork is finished: the practice, patience, experimentation, mistakes, problem-solving, and perseverance that shape an artist along the way.

“Beyond the Canvas celebrates not only what students create, but also the growth, discipline, and confidence they gain through the creative process,” said Catherine Anne Ongteco, Founder and Director of Art Burst PH.

MORE THAN ART: BUILDING CONFIDENCE THROUGH CREATIVE PRACTICE

For Art Burst PH, art education extends beyond technical skills.

Through structured learning and consistent creative practice, students are given opportunities to develop observation, focus, patience, resilience, imagination, self-expression, and confidence.

The exhibition therefore became a meaningful milestone for students and their families: a moment where the effort behind each artwork could be recognized and celebrated.

Among the participating artists was Scarlet Snow Belo, who presented two works: El Tiger, created using acrylic paint on canvas, and Chess Battle, created using graphite pencils and practiced perspectives.

The exhibition also connected student creativity with community impact. A portion of selected artwork sales supported the MBrace Project, which helps children with cancer.

FROM QUEZON CITY TO KUALA LUMPUR

The students’ journey did not stop at the local exhibition.

Art Burst PH is an official CAEB Partner Centre, providing students access to opportunities connected with the Creative Art Examination Board (CAEB), an international art assessment platform whose certification is connected with Warnborough College UK.

In a recent group of Art Burst PH students who participated in the CAEB assessment, 10 students received high-ranking results, including 2 High Distinctions and 8 Distinctions.

One student also traveled to England for an international opportunity connected with CAEB.

In another international milestone, five Filipino student artists from Art Burst PH traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where they exhibited at the Malaysian Institute of Art – City Campus on September 12, 2026.

The experience gave the students an opportunity to present their work in an international setting, represent the Philippines through art, and engage with a broader creative community.

GIVING FILIPINO STUDENT ARTISTS A PLATFORM

For Ongteco, these experiences are part of a bigger purpose: helping students understand that their creativity has value and that their artistic journey can open doors.

“We want our students to know that their art can take them places. But before they can go far, they need the foundations, patience, practice, and confidence to keep growing,” Ongteco said.

From a gallery in Quezon City to an international exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Art Burst PH is creating spaces where Filipino student artists can be seen, encouraged, and recognized.

The goal is not simply to produce beautiful artworks.

It is to help students discover their own creative voice and give them the confidence to share it with the world.
