A vibrant celebration of Philippine cinema unfolded at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) as HPUP SINE: Ang Sining at Imahinasyon sa Naratibo’t Ekspresiyon ng Pelikulang Pilipino took center stage on June 27, 2025, at PUP Bulwagang Bonifacio. The event consisted of two sessions, running from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:10 PM to 5:00 PM, and brought together students from various universities—including partner schools—along with members of the media and organizations for a day of creative discourse and cinematic appreciation.

Hataw PUP organized this event in collaboration with EdukSine Studios, a platform for accessible and progressive cinema. The celebration spotlighted the richness and value of Filipino narratives and the power of film as a vehicle for cultural expression, social commentary, and exploration of personal, societal, and political themes.
To set an engaging and welcoming tone, participants were treated to a series of fun and interactive icebreakers, energizing the crowd and encouraging active participation throughout the day. The highlight of the event was the screening of Isang Himala: The Musical, a film directed by Pepe Diokno. It was followed by talkback sessions that reflected on the significance of Filipino cinema and how the storytelling of Isang Himala: The Musical captured everyone’s hearts and minds.
Throughout the sessions, it became clear that HPUP SINE was not just a viewing event—it was a celebration of social dialogue, historical reflection, and cultural preservation. The event encouraged participants to view film as more than just entertainment, but as a powerful tool for engaging with critical discourse and national identity.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of sponsors and partner organizations, whose contributions helped bring this vision to life. Hataw PUP also extends its gratitude to academic partners, media collaborators, and all attendees who participated in uplifting Filipino artistry and student-led initiatives.
As the curtains closed at 5:00 PM, participants left the venue with a renewed appreciation for Filipino cinema and its role in shaping our culture and national consciousness. HPUP SINE succeeded not only in screening a film, but in fostering a meaningful space for storytelling, creativity, and community.
