Homegrown Coffee and Music Rolled in One at Bo’s Coffee’s #BrewPH
“To the people who say that Filipino music is dead, they just don’t know where to look.”
This is the statement that really made a mark in my head during the latest #BrewPH event at Bo’s Coffee Glorietta 5 where the discussion revolved around all things ‘homegrown.’
Bo’s Coffee collaborated with teams that reflect ‘homegrown music,’ such as NDFy.me, Loudbasstard and 22Tango Records. The second #BrewPH gathered local music lovers for an afternoon of music, talk and coffee. Steve Benitez, CEO of Bo’s Coffee, wanted to incorporate homegrown music to the coffee experience to create a new sense of pride and comfort as they promote ‘Pinoy’ to their customers.
Speakers from the partners included Cattski Espina from 22 Tango Records who shared her struggles during her musical journey, starting from her humble hometown Cebu until reaching her status as a producer and a musician. Loudbasstard’s Juli-Anna McGovern also promoted their environmental and unique Bamboo speakers, which are both sustainable and eco-friendly. Lastly, Glen Macadaeg, CEO of NDFY.me, and Carlos Castaño talked about how their passion for music led them to build an indie music empire and how they want to show the world that Filipinos have world-class talent just waiting to be discovered and recognized.
