GourmadePH Happiemeal: A Week of Healthy Eating Goodness!
Living a healthy lifestyle can oftentimes be difficult, especially for professionals with a hectic schedule. Most of the time, we find ourselves eating out at the nearest fast food joint instead. Wouldn’t it be nice if homemade quality food could be delivered right to your doorsteps? GourmadePH does just that, delivering homemade dishes right to your doorstep before going to work at only Php2,000 a week – and all you need to do is microwave your food at the office! 4 restaurant quality dishes for one whole work week!
For 1 whole week, I received a bag of microwavable heaven a day. This was timely since I was already getting tired of what was offered in our pantry. Anyone working long enough will get tired of the pantry concessionaire food sooner or later and knowing I would be eating something healthy and not something heavily oiled gave me a positive outlook throughout the entire day.
What surprised me the most about Monday’s meal was how much I loved the savory oatmeal with egg and fish since it tasted like really, really good congee and even had that texture despite being made out of oatmeal. The chicken biryani was moist and the vegetable burrito was actually filling. I had the banana and ube halaya as a snack during my last break.
On Tuesday, I had one of the fanciest breakfasts I had had in a long time. I shared the Eggs Florentine with a colleague and he noted that I was having a restaurant quality breakfast.
On Wednesday, I was really hungry, so I had the yang chao fried rice and African chicken in one go. I was delighted that the fried rice was not oily at all. I don’t know what spices were added to the chicken; but it was juicy, tender and, most importantly, very flavorful.
For dinner, I was supposed to have the beef steak sandwich, but no. My dad got to it first because it was delivered before I even saw it. He said that it was really good and the baguette was delicious, too.
Thursday’s lunch was a treat since I really love katsudon. This one was quite good in particular. Once again, the chicken was moist and tender while still having that familiar katsudon flavour. I almost wished for the serving to be bigger since it was that good. As for the matcha pancake with coffee cream and the toast with peanut butter, peach marmalade and banana fritter with dark chocolate; I had them for dessert right after the chicken katsudon.
Dinner consisted of pink pasta. Pink pasta is basically any pasta with sauce made out of marinara sauce with either milk or cream. What made this dish great was that the prawns were fresh; there was also a generous chunk of cream dory fillet in the mix.
Friday is my favorite day of the week. I don’t know why; but ever since a kid, I have always loved Fridays. What could make this Friday even more special? Brownies! Moist, chewy, rich and chocolatey brownies.
Aside from the brownies, I had one of the leanest yet most tender longanizas in my life and even though I’m a healthy young carnivore, I also really loved the salad that came with this meal.
I had a great week eating all of these well-executed healthy dishes from GourmadePH. The extensive use of brown rice, which in itself is quite tricky to cook and is oftentimes pasty or hard, were always al dente! Did I mention that the food was entirely greaseless, properly satiating my hunger without that full and heavy feeling? It is also good to know that the man who prepared these dishes received an international award at the Young Chef Competition in Macau-Hong Kong and was also a chef at Wynn Macau!
So, if you are a young professional who does not have much time to make a homecooked meal to take to the office, GourmadePH will deliver a Happiemeal for you!
