LOOK: These “Glam-mas” are strutting their stuff on Tiktok and we are living for it

From grandma to glam-ma!

As the saying goes, age is just a number. And these stylish grandmas — or “glam-mas”, as fans call them — are here to prove that you’re never too old to do anything. From dressing up in age-defying outfits to strutting their stuff in TikTok videos, these Chinese glam-mas have done it and more.

According to a report by Reuters, four amateur model grandmothers — Lin Wei, Wang Xinghuo, Sun Yang and Wang Nianwen — took off their masks as they walked down the streets of Beijing. This power move was meant to demonstrate that life was slowly getting back to normal as the COVID-19 pandemic eased in China.

Known as Glamma Beijing, they first met in a modeling course after retiring 20 years ago and have since then made a TikTok account together called @fashion_grannies. Based on a report by Yahoo Life, these ladies have over 1 million followers on Douyin, a Chinese video-sharing platform, and over 488,000 followers on TikTok.

One of their most viral videos with over 15.9 million views features the women walking the streets in beautiful pastel Chinese garb (qipaos), which transforms into edgier, black qipao with silver chains, belts, black sunglasses, and combat boots. The Chinese garb is given a different twist that ties both traditional and modern styles.

“You are old, you have wrinkles, you don’t have too much energy or your figure becomes baggy,” said Lin Wei, aged 64, to The Star. “But this is something you can’t go against, so you need to face it with positivity.”
