This Global Deaf Awareness Month, The Heart at Play Foundation, Inc. (THP) and Kidlat Dance Studio are coming together to create an afternoon of learning, movement, and connection through “Say It With Filipino Sign Language,” a beginner-friendly and interactive workshop that introduces participants to Filipino Sign Language (FSL) while incorporating dance cues into the experience.
The workshop will take place on September 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Kidlat Dance Studio in Greenhills, San Juan City.
Designed for beginners, the session will introduce participants to basic Filipino Sign Language signs and phrases, including greetings, self-introductions, and dance-related signs. Rather than simply learning signs, participants will have the opportunity to engage with FSL in a fun and welcoming environment while gaining a deeper appreciation of Deaf culture, communication, and inclusion.
The session will be facilitated by FSL Trainer and member of the Deaf community, Ms. Krizza Cuguyan, with interpretation by Mx. Rona dela Rama.
Students, professionals, and individuals from all backgrounds are welcome to participate. No prior FSL or dance experience is required—just a willingness to learn something new and be part of a meaningful afternoon.
“Say It With Filipino Sign Language” is also a class-for-a-cause, with proceeds supporting the programs of The Heart at Play Foundation, Inc., an SEC-registered non-government organization that serves children with developmental disabilities and underserved families in Metro Manila.
For Kidlat Dance Studio, the workshop is another opportunity to put inclusion into action: creating a space where people of different ages and abilities can come together through movement, learn from one another, and experience the joy of connection.
Because doing good does not always have to feel heavy. Sometimes, it can look like learning a new language, moving together, sharing an afternoon, and knowing that your participation helps support a cause that matters.
Participants will receive a free drink of choice and a chance to join a raffle as part of the afternoon’s activities.
