Follow-up: ‘Bark Cages’ Shared Their Side On Pet Adoption and Selling Situation In Q.C. Mall

A few days ago, we posted about the trending dogs for sale and for adoption under the group named ‘BARKS’ or ‘Bark Cages’ after an announcement made by Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and Bureau of Animal Industry that they were operating illegally.

You may read the article here.

Since then, the owner of Bark Cages shared us their side regarding the situation and informed us that they have already ceased operation in the mall.

They clarified that they offered dog adoption with a fee of Php 2,500.00- Php 3,000.00, and an optional of Php 500.00 for the cage. At the same time, the management confirmed that they were also selling puppies on their booth with prices ranging from Php 3,000.00 to Php 20,000.00. They stated that the dogs for sale were PCCI registered with papers.

Here’s their full statement:

We would like to inform everyone that we have sent an intent letter online to PAWS sometime between December 2-4, 2016 asking for assistance and when we could talk to them personally as we aim to help homeless puppies find good homes. Also we would like to inform all of you that we have already ceased our operations.

We also want to clarify the price issues once and for all. The adoption fee for the puppies is only Php 2,500.00- Php 3,000.00. If with cage add Php 500.00. We do not have any puppy or dog priced higher than Php 20,000.00. Those priced higher than Php 3,000.00 are PCCI registered with papers or pure breed puppies which requires high pet maintenance.

We have also informed all those who have adopted that these puppies have only been dewormed and vaccination will be shouldered by the person adopting them.

With all humility, we want to express our sincerest apologies to everyone involved and everyone who have been affected by what we have done but we have no other reason but our genuine sincerity for the puppies to be taken care of and have a respective owner. We are naturally animal lovers. We have taken care of them and provided their needs but due to lack of manpower we have decided to have them adopted and just earn back what we have spent on shelter, food, water, vitamins and deworming.

We have also spoken with John from PAWS and have written a commitment letter to convince the people who have adopted the puppies to have them caponed. In the future, as we want to continue helping puppies, we want you to know that should we find homeless puppies we will be forwarding them to PAWS. Thank you.

Respectfully yours,

Owner of Bark Dogs and Cages
