When In Manila…. I mean…. When in Sunnyvale, California, or anywhere near beautiful San Fracisco, you have got to check out the best burger joint in this part of the world. I first got to try Five Guys Burgers and Fries about 3 years ago during a visit in Virginia, where their first branch opened during the 80’s and became a fan instantly! So when I heard that they now have it here in California, I convinced my cousin to take us on a forty minute drive from San Bruno to Sunnyvale and the drive, believe me, was well worth it!
No one was more excited than me when we arrived Five Guys, Sunnyvale. I have been waiting for more than a week since the time I found out that Five Guys was in California and I was craving like mad. Now, I know In-N-Out is pretty big in Sunny California and the Californians are gonna hate me for saying this, but since I met Five Guys, I’ve just never been able to look at any other burger the same way. I am in love with Five Guys, and for the first time in my life, I can say that without worrying that I sound like a crazy nymphomaniac.
As soon as we entered the doors, someone was yelling that someone’s orders were up and he says it in a way that makes you feel as though you’ve won a huge prize, and knowing how good their burgers taste, I wanted my “prize” STAT! Their menu is as simple as 1,2,3. If you want two beef patties, you order their regular burger, and if one beef patty is good enough for you, get their “little” burger but trust me when I say that nothing is little about these burgers. That being said, i ordered the little burger. Both choices are offered with Bacon, American cheese or a combination of both for a minimal additional cost. You’ll also be happy to know that all other toppings are FREE. Yep, you can pretend that your not frugal but see, I’m happy to admit that I am, so the word free is always a welcome sight for me (That and the word SALE too). Toppings include mayo, mustard, ketchup, relish, onion, lettuce, pickle, tomato, green pepper, jalapeño, grilled onion, and grilled mushrooms. And yummy sauces include BBQ, hot sauce and A1 steak sauce. I like my meal spicy so I practically added everything on my burger except for relish and onions. And the result?
There’s my little burger that wasn’t so little at all and there’s me, the happy chap ready to attack my beef burger like there’s no tomorrow. Oh and don’t forget to try their free in-the-shell peanuts!!! There’s that free word again! See, who says nothing in this life is for free? They are just so darn good. While waiting for your burgers, I insist that you guys try their peanuts because even if they insist that you don’t take them outside the store, you’ll just find creative ways to bring home just a couple (don’t look at me like I’m a bad guy, it really can’t be helped!)
As you can imagine, I left this burger joint a completely satisfied woman, and I bet you that only Five Guys can make a woman feel that certain special way (I’m still talking about the burger joint people!). After 3 years, I’m still a huge fan! And even as i write this, I’m thinking of excuses to head back there again one of these days.
So the next time, When in Sunnyvale, California or just near the area, don’t forget to try Five Guys Burgers and Fries and you might just love them as much as I do. Who knew I could ever resist Five guys? Sounds yum? You bet!
