A Filipina actress is joining the cast of the upcoming season two of Netflix’s live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender”!
The series announced on November 12 its new cast members of the Earth Kingdom, including Filipina actress Lourdes Faberes. Originally a male character in the animated series, she will portray General Sung, one of the Earth King’s most trusted generals in the Earth Kingdom.
Lourdes also shared the wonderful news, expressing her joy at joining the cast of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” season two.
“Iโve been sitting on this news for over a month now and Iโm so thrilled to say Iโm joining the @avatarnetflix family! This beautiful show explores so many of the things I deeply believe in like courage, friendship, resilience, and that sometimes, the greatest adventure is finding somewhere to call home when the rest of the world is on fire. IKYK,” she beamed.
The actress emphasized that being chosen as one of the Asian talents in the popular series makes her heart so full.
“In my whole career in the UK and Europe, Iโve almost always been the lone East Asian on the entire film set. To be amongst a whole sea of Asian talent makes my heart so full. Itโs been such a long time coming,” she added.

Lourdes was born and raised in Manila. In 1997, she moved to the United States, where she earned an MA in Performance at theย Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She is known for her roles in “The Sandman,” “Good Omens,” “No Time to Die,” and Boiling Point.
The newest cast of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” season two also includes Chin Han, Justin Chien, Amanda Zhou, Crystal Yu, Kelemete Misipeka, Hoa Xuande, and Rekha Sharma. In September, Miya Cech also joined the cast.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” season two stars Filipino-Canadian Gordon Cormier, Dallas Liu, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and Daniel Dae Kim, among others. Its production is currently underway.
