The hit Bollywood comedy film “3 Idiots” is officially getting a sequel, director Rajkumar Hirani confirmed.

According to multiple media reports, Rajkumar confirmed that the story and script are already in development. He also shared that the story is expected to pick up 20 years after the events of the original film.
“We are still in the process of writing because we are also very excited about it,” he said.
The director also said that the original cast will return to the sequel if the project comes to fruition.
Starring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, “3 Idiots” is an iconic coming-of-age film released in 2009 that follows three engineering students as they navigate their lives and friendship. It is also a satirical commentary on India’s educational system.
The multi-award-winning comedy film became the highest-grossing Indian film ever until 2013.
