Maalaala Mo Kaya, a well-known drama show featuring real-life submitted stories will be celebrating its 28th anniversary. As part of the anniversary, one of the show’s specials will be the story of Marrz, a trans man who fought for LGBTQ+ rights where Anne Curtis will be playing the role of the trans man.
On July 10, MMK shared the news of this episode through its Instagram account:
Marrz Balaoro is an overseas Filipino worker and a pastor of a small Hong Kong church that welcomes people of all genders.
As for the reason to why Curtis took this role: “It’s always very difficult to tackle a role like this but I’m very inspired by his story [and] that’s why I decided to take it on. I really hope to give justice to it,” Curtis shared with ABS-CBN News.
MMK’s Embracing Me episode is directed by Barry Gonzalez and will air on July 13, Saturday, after “Idol Philippines.”
