“During several of the many flights I have taken to compete in Pole vault around the world, I have indeed encountered fog warnings at the airport where you can see very little,” he noted. “Well, I had a new experience a few days ago. I had my first fog warning in the midst of a pole vault competition in Taiwan.
During the competition, the Filipino Olympian bagged the gold with a 5.50-meter vault while American pole vaulter Matt Ludwig clinched silver.
“I decided to go for it and place my leap of faith in Godโs hand. I am thankful to have won the competition under such ‘murky’ conditions!” he shared.
In February 2025, the world No. 4 pole vaulter won a gold medal at the Orlen Copernicus Cup in Poland, clearing 5.80 meters in three attempts. He also secured victory at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor in France, where he cleared 5.70 meters.
The pole vaulter concluded the post with an uplifting message: “We canโt always have sunny skies and perfect weather conditions. We have to persevere through all kinds of adversity. This was a new kind of adversity, and I definitely learned from it!”
