Have you started hitting the gym and eating controlled meals lately? Don’t worry, you’re not alone.
It seems that we’re no longer living in the age where people would just leisurely eat whatever they want with no care of how it would affect them — No, we now live in the time where being fit is the norm, and living healthy is the ideal.
And according to reports, Instagram and social media is one of the tools spurring this change. Business insider reports that with the rise of social media, it’s no longer possible to turn a blind eye to the influence of living a healthy lifestyle:
Log on to Instagram and chances are at least one of your friends has posted a photo of his or her workout regimes or healthy meals… the constant in-your-face nature of wellness is a sharp detour from how things used to be. It was once easy to ignore the need to have a healthy lifestyle; you could just go about your life without constant reminders that you could be healthy. The Business Insider reports.
However, the rise of Instagram … and now, Facebook, and now seeing people like you are fitting it into their day and they’re putting in the effort and they’re enjoying their life and doing things they never thought they could do,” the report adds
And the change has been undeniable. In the past few years, more and more people participate in marathons, hiking up mountain trails, and joining cycling events. More and more people are fitting a little fitness time into their once “all work, and no play” schedule.
And that in itself is a good thing.
What do you think of the social media’s influence in the shift towards a fit and healthy lifestyle, especially among the young generation?
