At the Miami Open quarterfinals, Alex defeated World No. 2 Iga Swiatek with an astonishing score of 6-2, 7-5. Iga is a Polish tennis player who was previously ranked No. 1 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and has won 22 career titles in her lifetime.

Following her win, the WTA recognized the Filipina tennis sensation across their social media. The post garnered congratulatory messages and words of support from fans.

“SHEโ€™S ONLY GONE AND DONE IT!!!!!!!!” it wrote. “Filipino wildcard Alexandra Eala stuns World No. 2 Swiatek to reach the last 4 in Miami!”

The 19-year-old tennis star has secured three consecutive wins. She first defeated Latvian tennis star and world No. 25 Jelena Ostapenko, followed by an impressive triumph over world No. 5 Madison Keys.

With her winning streak, she is now assured of a Top 100 ranking. She is now the first tennis player from the Philippines to ever beat a top 10 player since the ranking system came into play in 1975.

She will now advance to the Miami Open semifinals, where she will face Jessica Pegula of the U.S.

We are so proud of you, Alex!
