Wood you look at that? Get cheap wooden plates, bowls, and more here

Nowadays, people have punny nicknames to describe people who are obsessed with something. There’s the “oilbularyo” for someone who collects essential oils or even “plantita” for plant lovers. Just recently, we’ve got a new set of monikers to add to the punny list— “platita” and “platito”— and no, we’re not talking about literal plates here.

In fact, platita and platito refer to a whole new group of people who are obsessed with dinnerware. Or kitchenware, even. That’s plates, bowls, cups, and all that jazz. To broaden the search, there are ceramics, melaware, glassware, and wooden pieces to choose from too. Wow!

Speaking of wood, we’ve discovered a great place that offers tons of wooden items, thanks to a tip from blogger Wanderbites by Bobbie.

The name? Dapitan Arcade.

Located just within Quezon City, Dapitan Arcade is home to many ceramics, kitchenware, accessories, and home decor. It’s a titas’ (and platitas’) haven comprised of multiple stalls— each one selling a wide array of items. It’s known by residents, avid collectors, and hoarders such as myself as a go-to for decor, especially during the holidays.

But months away from Christmas, they’ve got plates. Tons and tons of plates.

And they’re affordable, too!

Cute Finds at Dapitan Arcade

According to a post made by Wanderbites by Bobbie, she was able to score some wooden plates for PHP 10 only. That’s right— if you know where to look, you too can get wooden items for as low as PHP 10, depending on the style or material, of course. Prices in Dapitan Arcade range from PHP 10 to PHP 500, and it’s a steal!

She adds, “they have dainty ceramic bowls, pretty teapots, colorful plates, mugs, vases, pots for your plants, ornaments, name it! Everything is here!!! If colors and wood is your thing… then this would be your happy place.”

Unfortunately, due to the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) that was reimplemented, some stalls may be closed. Not to worry, a few sellers have created their Instagram and Facebook accounts to sell online. Take Dapitan Stall 10 or Dapitan Stalls 3 and 4, for example. With a keen eye and some good ol’ hard work and patience, you’ll find a number of these stores online. And they’ll deliver your orders in a jiffy, too!
