Bahay Kubo Vegetables: Expectations vs Reality

This is cute! Basically, it’s called Project Bahay Kubo and the objective of it is to assess the knowledge of Filipinos on the vegetables found in the Filipino Nursery Rhyme Bahay Kubo through a cute and fun way. Ria Corral and Sam Sanchez share that they realized after singing the song (and living in the Philippines for their entire lives) that they did not know what these vegetables actually look like! (They admit that they even got some of the names wrong.)
As such, in order to spread awareness among Filipinos, they came up with this short art project that they hope can be expounded. “I do think that it is important to know the plants we grow in our own backyard (kubo),” says Ria. What they did is they drew all of the Bahay Kubo vegetables as they thought they would look like before Googling to find out if they were right. The results? Totally relatable.
