If you’re keeping an eye on local theater, there’s a new musical to look forward to this year. Bongga Ka, Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical is set to hit the Newport Performing Arts Theater this September, organizers confirmed during the closing show of Bagets The Musical on March 22, 2026.

The show will feature hits from the ’70s Filipino band Hotdog, including fan favorites like “Bongga Ka Day,” “Annie Batungbakal,” “Manila,” and “Ikaw Ang Miss Universe Ng Buhay Ko.”
It was originally scheduled for June 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic. The previously announced cast included Gab Pangilinan, Anna Luna, and Nicole Omillo rotating in the lead role, alongside Markki Stroem, CJ Navato, Jon Santos, and Lemuel Silvestre.
Details for the 2026 run are yet to be released. The production is a collaboration between Viva, The Philippine Star, and Newport World Resorts.
Newport Performing Arts Theater recently wrapped up Bagets The Musical, which ran from January to March 2026 and featured a mix of veteran performers and younger talents such as Andres Muhlach, Ethan David, Milo Cruz, Jeff Moses, Tomas Rodriguez, Mico Chua, KD Estrada, Migo Valid, Sam Shoaf, and Noel Comia Jr.
