Christmas festivities in the Philippines just hit different. It’s the one special occasion we dedicate days, weeks, and even months of our precious time to. Filipinos know a thing or two about going all-out for the season of giving. Beyond the iconic traditions that make the holiday so distinct to our families and communities, Christmas gives us plenty of opportunities to share our joy and anticipate the new year with gratitude. This is what MEI MEI’s “Namamasko Po” strives to achieve—the inexplicable positivity we experience as we welcome all kinds of love into our lives.

Life’s hurdles and hardships may persist, but so does our eagerness to face the day with compassion, which MEI MEI hopes we embody all year long, not just every December. As we prepare to fill our holiday season with core memories, “Namamasko Po” also reflects on the girls’ fruitful journey as artists and the impact they strive to make on Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

Are you ready to spend the “ber” months caroling with Alexa, Jhamayka, Ada, Aerise, Thea, Jessie, Yuni, and Dina? Here’s what makes “Namamasko Po” an early Christmas gift we’ll remember forever:

An Unapologetically Filipino Anthem

First came Jose Mari Chan’s 1990 hit, “Christmas in Our Hearts.” Not long after, we hailed Mariah Carey the “Queen of Christmas” for her legendary single, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has dominated the charts since its release in 1994. Now, over two decades later, MEI MEI is bringing a unique Filipino flair to our go-to holiday soundtracks as “Namamasko Po” sets the OPM scene alight.

The song’s title alone is unmistakably Filipino, with playful hints of MEI MEI’s signature sound that the girls explore further throughout each verse.

“Besides its modern-day vibe, ‘Namamasko Po’ tells a traditional Filipino story that we think everyone can connect with,” shares “Power MEI MEI” Jessie. “We hope everyone feels as much joy listening to it as we do performing it!”

MEI MEI’s new single tells a magical story about generosity, warmth, and moments of togetherness that resonate with Filipinos of all ages. From an irresistibly catchy chorus to fun-filled lyrics and choreography that instantly brighten our moods, the girls put a P-pop spin on the holidays that’ll have you hooked in no time.

Our favorite Christmas traditions are at the heart of “Namamasko Po”, inspiring us to turn simple gatherings with our loved ones into meaningful celebrations that’ll always hold a special place in our hearts.

Even the MEI MEI girls themselves can’t help but reminisce about their most memorable holiday bonding activities in honor of their feel-good song. “Sweet MEI MEI” Aerise and “Princess MEI MEI” Thea, for instance, recall the many caroling sessions they spent with their friends and family.

“Spark MEI MEI” Alexa adds, “I love putting up decorations! September pa lang, ramdam na natin ‘yung Christmas dito. Tayo rin ‘yung may longest Christmas season, kaya nakakatuwang maramdaman talaga ‘yung Paskong Pinoy.”

As the group’s resident diva, Dina always looks forward to karaoke sessions with her neighbors. “Groovy MEI MEI” Yuni and “Cool MEI MEI” Jhamayka love a hearty Noche Buena, while family reunions are a must for “Dolly MEI MEI” Ada. We can’t wait to see more of these longstanding holiday traditions in the “Namamasko Po” music video, which hits music platforms on October 17, 2026, starring many notable names in local pop culture.

Human connections sustain us more than we may think. In a world where cynicism and avoidance run rampant, MEI MEI reminds us of the power of togetherness or pakikipagkapwa, especially during the holiday season.

“Namamasko Po” invites us to keep our hearts and minds open to enduring relationships with the people around us. Sometimes, all it takes is a knock on our doors to change our lives for the better, like how OPM and P-pop welcomed MEI MEI wholeheartedly and changed theirs.

A Very “MEI-rry” Christmas

This December marks MEI MEI’s first Christmas together as a full-fledged girl group. As “Namamasko Po” continues to capture Filipinos’ hearts, we can’t think of a better way to commemorate the girls’ upcoming holiday whereabouts.

MEI MEI has plenty of milestones to celebrate this Christmas, starting strong with their debut single, “Telebong (Hello Po),” last May. They came back even stronger in July with “Alembong,” an upbeat sophomore track that helped put novelty pop back in the OPM landscape. They even scored a collaboration with the Sexbomb Girls for the Filipina icons’ new single, “MAMA MAMA,” which also features various new-generation P-pop artists.

No matter how we spend the holidays this year, MEI MEI reassures us that there will always be room for our stories, experiences, and voices to shine. After all, Christmas is best spent with unending cheer, and “Namamasko Po” has that by the handful.
