During the look-test for the movie starring Richards and Kathryn Barnardo, Direk Cathy told him directly that he must lose weight for his role in the film, according to Richards at the film’s grand press conference.

“Nung nagte-take na kami ng mga test shots, parang hindi na po yata napigilan ni Direk. Sabi niya, ‘Alden halika dito. Tignan mo ang taba mo’,” Alden shared.

“‘Yon po talaga ‘yong nag-drive sa ‘kin [to lose weight],” he added.

After being told this, Alden promised the film’s director that he would no longer look the same when they meet the next time. “And he kept his word,” Direk Cathy said.

In one month, the actor has already lost around 20 to 25 pounds.

“I’m really happy that I was able to work with these amazing people, and amazing director. Binago po ni direk how I see my work now. Hindi puwedeng half-baked ang commitment,” he shared.

Hello, Love, Goodbye hits theatres on July 31. Along with Alden and Kathryn, it also stars Lovely Abella, Joross Gamboa, Kakai Bautista, Maymay Entrata, Jameson Blake and Jefferey Tam.
