According to their official website, this move is part of the ongoing terminal reassignment program by New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), which aims to optimize terminal operations, improve efficiency, and elevate the passenger journey across the airport.
“We are excited about this transition as it is designed with our guests’ convenience in mind. With our international flights moving to Terminal 1 and our domestic operations currently at Terminal 2, both terminals will now be in closer proximity to each other. This allows guests with connecting flights to enjoy a seamless and efficient transfer experience, with shorter distances and easier access between connections. This also comes at an important time for the Holy Week, ensuring we are ready to support the travel surge during this time.” said AirAsia Philippines CEO and President Capt. Suresh Bangah.
The terminal reassignment has been implemented to support the anticipated travel surge during the Holy Week period and to make travel experiences more “guest-centric.”
Following this shift, all ten international routes operated by AirAsia Philippines, as well as the Manila–Kuala Lumpur route of AirAsia Malaysia, will be affected. This includes check-in, boarding, and baggage claim procedures.
While the terminal has changed, the airline noted that flight schedules remain the same. All international flights departing on or after March 29 will check in and depart from NAIA Terminal 1, while all international flights arriving in Manila on or after March 29 will also land at the same terminal.
All guests of affected flights have been notified via their registered email addresses and mobile numbers. Passengers are encouraged to check their flight status through the airline’s official website or the AirAsia MOVE app.
Meanwhile, all domestic flights from AirAsia Philippines will continue to operate from NAIA Terminal 2.
