Ai-Ai Delas Alas has revealed that she won’t be pushing through with her plans to bear a child with her husband Gerald Sibayan.
The 55-year-old actress previously spoke publicly about their intention to have a baby through in vitro fertilization by January 2020. However, it seems that she will have to set those plans aside due to growing health concerns.
“Ako lang kasi, minsan na-i-stress din ako,” Ai-Ai shared during a press conference last Wednesday, November 20, according to an article by PEP.
“Kasi minsan nagkakaroon ako ng biglaang sakit, e. Pag buntis ka, di ka naman puwedeng uminom ng gamot,” she continued.
She also expressed her fear that her organic diet, which she has been taking for four years now, might affect the health of her child.
“Tsaka kasi ang katawan ko organic, so pag sinapian ako ng mga synthetic, nagkakasakit ako, kawawa naman yung baby,” she added.
When asked about how she feels about it, she answered: “Nalungkot din ako, pero mas inisip ko yung kapakanan ng magiging anak ko kasi tama [si Gerald] sa sinasabi niya. Kasi bigla rin ako nagkasakit, nagkasakit ako lately… Yung effect sa akin ng gamot, iba na, e. Masyado nang malakas, nahihilo ako, nasusuka ako. Paano yung baby?”

She also said that her husband shares the same sentiments as her.
“Siyempre, ayoko rin namang magpaka-plastic. Hindi rin naman ako bata,” she said. “Alam din [ni Gerald] iyon. ‘Hindi ka din naman bata. What if may mangyari sa iyo, paano kami? Paano kami ng mga anak mo, iwanan mo kami?’”
However, she isn’t ruling out all options to have a child. She said that she’s open to the concept of surrogacy but would much rather bear the child on her own. She is also consulting with her doctor and hoping that, by some miracle, she can still be able to get pregnant.
“Hayaan mo, God is good. Mangyayari at mangyayari iyan, magkakaroon kami ng baby,” she said.
